Grasping Product Knowledge
Before working on the APD, the main hurdle was to get to know how things work, whats are some basic terminologies used in data center and whats the issue that we are going to solve with the product.
For this I took some basic courses regarding data centers. Read the available documentation which includes user manuals, technical specifications, whitepapers, and case studies. Interviewed the user about the daily routine what they do inside a datacenter
User research
There were total three type of users who will be using this application. We did a thorough research of the issues faced while using the previous application and what are the expectations from new user experience.
Wireframing & Concept Testing
After the synthesis of information, started working on ideal user flow and made wireframes for initial user testing.
Highfidelity Designs
During the span of 1.5 Years, I worked on multiple features which are
- Global Data Center View
Custom Reports – Data extraction based on user defined filters
Audit Log – Audit trail of all actions taken by users, operators & admins
Point and click provisioning
Port & Path Finders
Network Topology Management with auto discovered views that include physical assets
